I feel like I have been whining a lot lately. Sorry. I truly am.
Truth be told, this weekend was amazing. We actually "skipped Christmas" this year. I was dead set on staying home and doing nothing Christmas-y. No tree, no lights, no gift exchanging. (Except for food, any excuse to cook a big meal I can't pass up. Holidays are like a free pass to get your Paula Deen on with the butter.) However, previous to the mess that was this season I had made non-refundable hotel reservations in Seattle. I considered forgetting about them and cutting my losses, but Husband talked me out of it. We spent Christmas day free of technology, eating good food, drinking champagne, watching movies, playing board games, relaxing and reconnecting. Sometimes we are so busy I forget that being in the same house isn't the same as spending quality time together. It was nice to get to laugh, dream and snuggle. Despite being together for 6 years, this was the first Christmas that we spent just the two of us. We spent the day after Christmas paling around the city. Eating burgers (gluten free of course!) at Blue Moon Burgers, getting Starbucks, shopping and taking the Underground Tour. I'm a history nerd and we both LOVE architecture so it was the perfect end to the perfect weekend. If you are in the city I strongly suggest it. We miscalculated how long it would take and avoided a parking ticket by the skin of our teeth (truly a Christmas miracle). When we returned home I was even greeted with good news in my email box.
Hope you had a blessed Christmas! Time to start thinking about New Years resolutions.
